In 2013 I had the privilege of attending a workshop on research for primary health practitioners cohosted by the Fiji College of General Practitioners and the WONCA.
WONCA is an unusual, yet convenient acronym comprising the first five initials of the World Organization of National Colleges, Academies and Academic Associations of General Practitioners/Family Physicians.
WONCA’s short name is World Organization of Family Doctors.
It was a very useful trip for me not only for what I learned from the three day workshop but also because of the great contacts I met during the event.
It was a coming together of many primary care physician mainly from Fiji and a few like myself from other South Pacific island countries.
I returned inspired to be a part of the establishment of a PNG College of General Practitioners which I see as the organization that should play the main role in the post…
